Celebrity brand endorsements are nothing new to the advertising industry. Right from ‘washing powder Nirma’ endorsed by a slew of Indian actresses, and 'Boost is the secret of my energy' starring Kapil Dev in the 80s and 90s, to some of the most eyeball-grabbing Manyavar ads featuring star couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma in recent times, celebs are a big pull factor when it comes to ads. t2 lists the top 10 Indian celebrities in terms of brand endorsements: 

1. Virat Kohli

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been the highest in demand for brand endorsements for five consecutive years. The list is huge and includes brands such as Myntra, Himalaya, Mobile Premier League, Puma, Volini, Vicks India, MRF Tyre, Uber India, Philips India, Too Yumm, Manyavar, Blue Star, Vivo, Google Duo, among many others. Kohli became Manyavar’s official ambassador in 2016 and after his marriage to Anushka Sharma the duo became the official face of the wedding range. 

2. MS Dhoni


Another former Indian cricket skipper who has a humongous list of brand endorsements. This February Turtlemint announced our world-cup-winning captain as their brand ambassador. Some of the other brands endorsed by him are HomeLane, Oreo, G Square Housing, Oppo, PokerStars, redBus, Colgate, etc. 

3. Ranveer Singh


Ranveer Singh currently endorses 41 brands and he is going to be honoured as the International Advertising Association (IAA) Brand Endorser of the year. He charges around INR 3.5 to 4 crore per ad and is one of the most expensive actors for brand endorsements. He endorses brands such as Manyavar, JBL, Gucci x Adidas, Nivea, Colgate, Ching’s, Bingo, and plenty of others.

4. Alia Bhatt


The list of brands endorsed by Alia Bhatt is never-ending. Some of them are Blenders Pride, Cadbury, Cornetto, Flipkart, Garnier, Aurelia, Philips, Samsung, PhonePe, Manyavar, Lays, Maybelline, Sunsilk, Nokia, Tresemme, among others. Her brand value was higher than MS Dhoni, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan in 2019. After her marriage to Ranbir Kapoor, the couple have endorsed brands together. 

5. Akshay Kumar

Thirty brands are willing to pay crores for this actor currently. He’s one of the most in-demand Indian actors for brand endorsements. After appearing in more than 100 films and still having a soaring career, Akshay charges Rs 2-3 crores per ad. PC Jewelers, Livguard Energy, Policy Bazaar, Suthol, Harpic, Dollar, Tata Motors, Honda are among some of the popular brands he endorses. 

6. Amitabh Bachchan


At the age of 79, Big B has still got it in him! Our angry young man is much loved and still most preferred by several brands as his fan following is still unquestionable. upGrad is the latest brand to be endorsed by Amitabh Bachchan. He is the brand ambassador for Cadbury Dairy Milk, Amway India, Emami, Dabur Chawanprash, Cello, Cadbury, ICICI Prudential Life, Maggi, Navratna Oil, etc. Brands are ready to pay Rs 3 to 8 crores to Mr Bachchan for a single advertisement. 

7. Deepika Padukone


She’s one of the leading brand endorsement faces in Bollywood. She’s Louis Vuitton's first ever Indian brand ambassador, marking her as the face in demand for other luxury brands as well. Some other brands that performed successfully in the market and are aided by her endorsements include Coca-Cola, Jio, Levi’s, L’Oreal Paris, Tanishq, Goibibo, Oppo, Nescafe, Close-up, Kellogg’s Special K, etc. 

8. Katrina Kaif


She’s not only among the highest-paid actors in Bollywood but has found herself a long-standing position in the top 10 celebrity endorsers in the country. She has also launched her own brand Kay Beauty that’s being sold in Nykaa’s retail store. 10. Varun Dhawan


Dhawan has earned the name of being the only actor to achieve 11 box-office successes in a row and his chatpata Bollywood charisma has earned him a strong base. The brands are quite intrigued to sign him as their endorser.
